Frequently Asked Questions

Answers on Old Quaker’s history, its three whiskeys, and where to find them.

Old Quaker Whiskey was first produced in 1843 — an age when most farmers were also distillers, and in a way the true origin of American craft whiskey. During the 20th century it not only survived Prohibition but grew to become one of the largest U.S. whiskey brands in the world.

The Old Quaker Distilling Company has been revived by the great-great-grandson of its founder. Today’s Old Quaker returns as a faithful reproduction of authentic American craft, celebrating that history in both name and spirit.

New to brown spirits? The Straight American Whiskey — a balance of sweet and spice — is a great introduction. The Straight Bourbon is a high rye bourbon with a malted barley bookend that tastes like the whiskey from a generation ago, and the Straight Rye, with over 75% rye grains, brings spice and sweetness that make it easy to appreciate and hard to put down.

All three Old Quaker whiskeys are aged four years in oak barrels and bottled at 84 proof (42% ABV) in 750 ml bottles.
